RE: WDSC won't open

Thanks. That worked.

It turns out he put his workspaces in shared network drive. (This happened by 
default for several of our developers when they initially installed WDSC.) He 
recently had to reinstall because his hard drive was wiped clean for reasons 
unrelated to WDSC. However, when he reinstalled, it created a second workspace 
in the shared network drive. So there were two workspaces out there.

I don't know why it suddenly chose the wrong workspace today. He reinstalled a 
few days ago and had been using it before today.

Regardless, I put the -setworkspace at the end of his desktop link (he had 
checked the box and was not choosing a workspace on startup), and helped him 
get a little more familiar with managing workspaces. I'm assuming the issue is 
resolved at this point.

Hi Kelly,

Try removing the .config folder in the workspace and restarting.  If you 
accepted the default workspace location then this should be:

C:\Documents and Settings\%windows ID%\My 
Documents\IBM\wdsc\workspace\.metadata\.config

Did this developer apply any updates yesterday or try using an old 
workspace (or anything else out of the ordinary?)

One of the developers in my shop couldn't get WDSC to open this morning. 
The splash screen shows up, but then it disappears and message window 
appears saying to check the .log file in .metadata.  Here is what the log
