sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver is an optional component of the Java2 1.4
spec. It looks like IBM chose not to supply this driver with their 1.4
level JRE's.

Some Googling turned up a few answers. Some people have managed to fool
Websphere by pointing it to the rt.jar from a 1.3.1 JVM with
jdbcodbc.dll on the native classpath, but that yielded mixed results.
The best bet is to get a JDBC driver that works with Microsoft Access.
Sun's master reference includes several:

c_version=0&vendor_name=&cert_mode=and&jdbc_driver_type_mode=and&dbms=6&
dbms_mode=and&features_mode=and&results_per_page=20&submit=Search

HTH,
Robert

Subject: [WDSCI-L] sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver not supported on 5.1.2 ?

Hi,

I tried this message with another subject recently, but I still didn't
get
any further, hence this attempt.

I have two PC's, one running WDSC AE 5.1.1, the other one WDSC AE 5.1.2.

The problem is now that on the new one, I always get a class not found
exception on Class.forName("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver"); when being
used
in a servlet (the same runs fine as Java application on both). The code
on
both PC's is exactly the same (even that one line is enough to test it).

Since it works as Java application, it looks like the included Websphere
Express v5.1 Test environment no longer supports the bridge (which I
used
locally with MS-Access to test my application), but I can't find any
reason
why not, and how to eventually fix it.

Kind regards,
Paul
