Don
One more time, thanks a lot. I was able to import the jt400.jar, and
access beans works great. But I don't understand, why following settings
was never considered.
(1) Driver from C:\WDSC\Java\JT400.Jar AND
C:\WDSC\iseries\eclipse\plugins\com.ibm.etools.iseries.toolbox_5.1.2
\runtime\jt400.jar to the classpath variable under java
under preference.
(2)Driver from C:\WDSC\Java\JT400.Jar AND
C:\WDSC\iseries\eclipse\plugins\com.ibm.etools.iseries.toolbox_5.1.2
\runtime\jt400.jar to the JDBC drivers under web services
under preference.

If possible, let me know.
Thanks
Jag

Jag,

If this is a web project then you need to add the jt400.jar file to the
projects WebContent\WEB-INF\lib folder for it to be picked up at runtime in
the application server.

Don
Thanks for the suggestion. I did not rename the config file, you are
talking about. Given my workspace (just 3 plugins), I was able to get back
my plugins. But I do have a question reg. Data access beans. Whenever I
try to run data access web page, I get the following msg.

I tried adding my driver C:\WDSC\Java\JT400.Jar or

Jag,

Did you try renaming the .config directory?

>>(5) Swapped back the my documents\ibm\wdsc\workspace (older version to
the
>> newly created directory).

Under this directory you will find a subdirectory .metadata\.config. Try
shutting down the workbench, renaming this directory (say backup.config)
and then restarting the workbench.

Don
Thanks for the message. The following is the method I utilized to do
the migration.
(1) Backed up my workspace (as suggested by Mark Phippard - WDSCI
subscriber)
(2) Deleted the both WDSC folders (1- my documents\IBM\WDSC, 2- WDSC (root
directory)
(3) Uninstalled the WDSC 5.1.0.3 completely
(4) Installed from the IBM DVD
(5) Swapped back the my documents\ibm\wdsc\workspace (older version to the
newly created directory).

As you said, the migration document (part of the IBM DVD) was very helpful,
(I see a lot of thought has gone thro' putting this doc.- good job). The
only issue, I am trying to resolve is bringing my plugins back. Let me
know, if you have any suggestions. I thought this might help somebody
else.

Thanks for your help.

Jag,

Did you try shutting down the workbench and renaming the .config directory
I mentioned below? This should clean up the missing RSE problem. Once you
have that fixed then take a look at the migration guide on the first CD of
WDSc under \install\helpenu\migrate.htm for migrating the projects.

I recently installed 5.1.2 on windows 2000 by uninstalling the
5.1.0.3. The issue is whenever I try to open the workspace created from
earlier version, (had few plugins, webfacing projects etc..), I do not get
every perspective/view eg. RSE does not even appear in my perspective
selection, my plugins shows as if not installed. Any suggestions, how could
I get back all my projects etc from the earlier version. I do have backup
of my workspace.

Chris,

Do you have an existing workspace on your home PC (maybe in C:\Documents
and Settings\yantzi\My Documents\IBM\wdsc\workspace)? If so, try to rename
the following directory:

C:\Documents and Settings\yantzi\My
Documents\IBM\wdsc\workspace\.metadata\.config

to

C:\Documents and Settings\yantzi\My
Documents\IBM\wdsc\workspace\.metadata\backup.config

and try to restart WDSc.

Hi all,
I've recently tried to install WDSCI 5.1 on my home PC and after installing
and trying to bring up the Development Studio Client it says that it's
completing the install, then I get a error msg stating, "problems during
startup. Check the ".log" in the metadata directory of your workspace". Has
anyone had this problem? If so, I'd sure appreciate some help correcting
it. I'm running on WinXP, connecting to the host 400 via F5 Network Access.
I'm hoping that maybe IBM can answer this one for me. I've uninstalled and
re-installed the software twice, hoping that it might take care of the
problem.
The log file had the following info:
