Check this article in the archive <http://archive.midrange.com/wdsci-l/200406/msg00122.html>. Also, search the archive on "re-install" or "uninstall" or, for more than you need, "install".

When the instructions say to delete from the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE part of the registry, also check the same things in HKEY_CURRENT_USER.

sigh...upgraded my PC with 5.1.2 over 5.0 with no problems...the
installer deleted the old version and installed the new version.
Probably could have done some migration thing and not lost my filters,
but no big deal.

So then I tried to upgrade my laptop...disaster. The install was taking
forever, so I checked the archives and saw that deleting the old
version was a fix to the neverending install. So I cancelled the
install and deleted (or tried to) from Control Panel. Deleted WDSC but
couldn't delete WSSD - delete took forever. Cancelled the delete, tried
it again, and got a bunch of what looks like XML messages indicating
something (looks like a bad name) couldn't be found. So I tried the
install again and it took forever again...like over 8 hours...and
didn't work.

Question: How can I manually delete WDSC and WSSD from my laptop so I
can install the product again?

TIA...
