We occasionally have problems with WDSCi hanging when trying to resolve objects (filters, table lists, etc) in RSE. The hang time can easily be 30 seconds...sometimes longer. Often a message pops-up saying the request is taking a long time and asking if we want to cancel the request. This happens regardless of workstation CPU speed and RAM size. I suspect it has something to do with occasional bottlenecks on our iSeries. We develop on a test machine, and even in SEU I occasionally notice a delay in response due to heavy hits against the iSeries CPU. I think WDSCi responds badly when it happens to make a request to the iSeries at one of these bottleneck moments. But that's sheer speculation on my part. What is clear is that the problem persists, that more than one programmer in our shop experiences this problem, and that it has caused new users problems (e.g., closing WDSCi during one of these delays because it seemed locked up and thereby corrupting the workspace or losing unsaved changes to open source members). It would be nice if WDSCi shortened the time in which it decides the response from the iSeries is slow and offered more diagnostic messages about delays in response. Just a thought... Anyone else encountering a situation where WDSC Advanced 5.1.2 will hang up for about 30 seconds on every user gesture? This happens a lot when I'm in the java perspectives ... but it seems to happen continuously when I'm using the remote system perspective. All I'm trying to do is edit a CL. Basically what happens is: I perform some gesture ... like closing a view, cut, paste, insert a line, etc, and WDSC locks up for (approx) 30 seconds ... often the menu bar goes white. After that 30 seconds it resumes operation with the gesture complete. I know Dave Murvin encountered something similar to this ... but not exactly. FWIW: My instance of WDSC is using about 242mb of memory (I have 1gb). Any suggestions? Thanks! david _______________________________________________ This is the Websphere Development Studio Client for iSeries (WDSCI-L) mailing list To post a message email: WDSCI-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/wdsci-l or email: WDSCI-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/wdsci-l.
