It is my understanding that each time I create a Faces JSP file and put
fields in it a bean of sorts gets created in the pagecode package in my
Java Resources directory (i.e. I created greeting.jsp and
pagecode.Greeting.java was created automatically). I put
System.out.println statements in each of the methods defined in
Greeting.java to see when it was being used in the JSF lifecycle, and
the only one getting executed is a handleMyFieldValueChange().

How are these generated classes intended to be used? I initially
thought I was to use them to set and get values from the screen, but
there are no setter methods auto generated for the different components,
just getter.

I have not been able to find where in the help this is described. Can
anyone lead this thirsty JSF body to some water?
