We haven't had good results using the regular uninstall method.  Several
developers had issues that went away after we went on a search and
destroy mission through the Windows XP Registry (making sure to back it
up first, naturally ;-) ).

Yes you do.  5.1.2 is such a huge release that you basically need to
uninstall and reinstall.  The good news is that the installer does all
this automatically and those who have used it say it works fine.
Personally, I did a manual uninstall, but that's just me.  The bad news
is that you have to get new media to do it.  You have to order it from
your BP.
