[WDSCI-L] Database maintenance, DDS, SQL, Constraints...






Hello everyone,

I'm asking this question here because you all must have some what similar
system setups and development practices since your are using this board.

How do you maintain your iSeries database now?  What I mostly mean is
database definitions like PF DDS source as opposed to SQL script 
definitions
as they relate to files that will be used in both traditional RPG programs
and Web development.

I realize that once the file object is out there the programs don't care 
how
it was created, I'm concerned more with maintenance down the road.

So far the only thing that I've found that you can not do with traditional
DDS specs is Referential Integrity file constraints.  Am I missing 
anything?

Using SQL to create tables is new to us here and we also have every 
database
file on our system defined with DDS.  Is there a compelling reason to use
SQL to define new files on the system or should we stay with using DDS?
