I've long complained about how inconvenient it is to make changes in preferences - going through the Window menu, etc. Well!!! I just ran across a tip in the help for 5.1.2 that made my day:

Tip: You can also access Remote System preferences by clicking the drop-down menu (the down-arroe) from the Remote Systems view and selecting Preferences > Remote Systems.

There are also direct links to 3 other useful sections.

I hope this i available in earlier releases.
