data shift on Find/Replace

Is there anyway to do a  replace a search string without adjusting the rest of
the text? Example when you are replacing a search string that is not the
same length as the find string. In SEU there is a "Allow data shift" option.

When the data gets shifted and you are replacing something in the D
spec everything to the right gets put in the wrong column becuase it
gets shifted.
