I was having this very problem during an install last Friday. If using the
CD's, the installation would seem to hang at various points. In each case, I
would kill the jobs after about 60-90 minutes with no indication of any
progress. After wasting half a day doing this, I replaced the CD drive in my
machine with a DVD that I had lying around and tried again. Using the DVD
driver, I was able to successfully complete my upgrades in about an hour per
machine.
