The thought crossed my mind. Since I didn't think there was anything
else running and my alternative was rebooting I tried it. Worked for me,
but I can see the possibility of unpredictable results.  

I can see the javaw process hanging around when there was an abnormal
shutdown, but it is more puzzling when things looked normal.  Another
workaround for me would be to shut off my pc at the end of the day.

This is assuming, of course, that you have no other Java applications
running.  Killing the wrong javaw job can be ... annoying.
