All: This is a follow-up to a question that was posted about 2 months ago. The original post was from Brian Andersen and I chimed in with a similar request. I've been working offline with Kushal Munir from IBM who also responded to the original post and has graciously provided the information I needed. To summarize, my question was: Is it possible to create our own commands to wrap around IBM compile commands and return the events file information to the iSeries Error List window in WDSc? The answer: Yes! To accomplish it you need to do the following... - Your command must have parameters SRCMBR(member) and OPTION(*EVENTF) - The IBM compile command must actually create an events file (by specifying OPTION(*EVENTF) - In RSE (or iSeries Projects), you must define your command as a Compile command The last step is accomplished by: - right-clicking on a source member of the type you will use your command with (i.e. RPGLE) - hover over menu option "Compile" until the menu expands - click on "Work with Compile Commands..." - Give your command a name (label) and specify the command syntax (similar to how PDM works with variables) - click on "Create" - close the window Now your command is available as a "Compile" command, just like CRTRPGMOD or any other create command currently is and will return the events file information to the iSeries Error List window. If your command processing program executes the compile command by first "building" the command in a variable, then using QCMDEXC to execute it, you will need to do one additional step in your CPP: - update the first 20 bytes of the *LDA (yes, the local data area) with - (bytes 1-10) source library - (bytes 11-20) source member name That's it.
