Kelly,

It looks to be PTF related. Here is an excerpt from the "WebSphere
Development Studio Client for iSeries V5.0" redbook.

Important: After a DDS is changed by CODE Designer to include Web settings,
the DDS
can no longer be maintained using Screen Design Aid. If you attempt to
modify the DDS
using SDA, an error occurs advising you that it cannot be maintained due to
WebFacing
comments within the DDS.

However, recently a PTF was developed to address this issue. If you plan to
continue using
SDA, load and apply PTF SI07523 on OS/400 V5R1 or SI07526 on V5R2.

The cover letter for the PTF says that "Screen Design Aid (SDA) will be
changed to handle field level comments better." I don't have this PTF on my
V5R1 system so I don't know how much "better" it works!

Thanks,
Richard

It must depend on what changes you make and what system you are running. I
just modified a screen in Code Designer to set a constant invisible and to
create a hyperlink on another constant.

 A*%%WB 4 FLD
 A ADD1 24A B 9 45
 A 43 DSPATR(PR)
 A 03 DSPATR(PC)
 A 11 20'ADDRESS LINE 2:'
 A*%%WB 12 FLD 3 http://www.yahoo.com|
 A ADD2 24A B 11 45
 A 44 DSPATR(PR)
 A 04 DSPATR(PC)

The file still opens fine in SDA on our machine. I can modify the file in
SDA, save the changed, and compile okay. I can also modify, save, and
compile okay with SEU. Wonder what's different? We're running V5R2 on an
810.

Thanks,
Kelly

FYI

Once your display file source has WB comments from adding web settings
within Code Designer, you can't use SDA anymore. You get "SOURCE CONTAINS
WEBFACING FIELD COMMENTS. SDA CANNOT BE USED." if you try. You can, however,
use SEU. I've done that several times to make a minor display file change or
to tweak a web setting.

Enjoy!
Richard

Thanks, Mark. Good description.

Just a note...I believe you can still edit the source code in SDA and SEU
and not lose the WB comments. The danger would be from developers
accidentally removing the WB comments.

Thanks,
Kelly
