Next release. . .

Since you have brought up the next release, could you tell us when it will
be available? :-)

I should mention that for the next release, these issues have been
resolved.  The status of the save to the host will be displayed in the
status area and the menus will only become active once the operation is
complete.  That should clear up the confusion.
