Unless there is an authority or lock issue, I've never had a problem with
recompiling a logical file with the plain old CRTLF command. This sounds
like a problem with WDSC.

Thanks,

I think that preference just controls whether *YES or *NO is specified in
the REPLACE() variable of the create command. CRTLF does not have a
REPLACE() parm, the LF has to be deleted with DLTF. Sounds like IBM
doesn't have anything special in there to do this? I usually use our
product, TurnOver, when compiling and it handles all of that for me so I
am not sure what IBM does from RSE.

Subject
[WDSCI-L] CRTLF unsuccessful if file already exists

In the command execution preferences, I have checked 'Replace object' but
when I compile a logical file I get an error message that the file can't
be
created because it already exists.

Do I need to set a preference somewhere else, or is this the way it works?

(Also, I noticed that the iSeries Commands Log does not include the CPF
msg. It would be nice if it did.)

Thanks,

Phil
