Generally, the only time there would be issues with Install/Update is if your network uses a proxy to access the Internet. If this is the case, then you have to configure the proxy settings in the Preferences. Also, as others have pointed out, it does not work with all Proxies, specifically the one from Microsoft. This is one of the downsides in general of using proxies for Internet access. If you just have a Firewall/NAT scenario then Install/Update works seamlessly. If you cannot get it working it is possible to download the fixes manually from IBM's support site. They can then be installed via the Install/Update perspective using a local update site. If you have 50 systems to update, it might be worth doing this anyway so that you do not have to download the same thing 50 times. In the past I have even out all of the updates in one location and served them back up internally using Apache. This is just a little easier to setup as an update site than doing it locally for a large number of clients. It also gives you some control as to when to apply the updates. I read a previous posting that talked about WDSC 5.1fixes but I cannot access the software updates from the IBM website. From RSE, I've done the Help - Software Updates - New Updates but it keeps saying it has a network connection problem. I've also tried the search for updates from the Install/Update perspective - gets same network connection error. I've seen some reference to the fact that connection problems like mine may be related to the preferences I have set up. When I look under Install/Update at Window - Preferences, just what am I supposed to change about the preferences to get this connection to work??? Also, the operations group here already had applied 2 PTFs on the host AS/400 (SI09609 and SI08594) but I'd be curious if anyone has a definitive list of which host PTF numbers are needed for WDSC 5.1?
