Dave,

Thanks for the response. Being a COBOL programmer, and using the alias all the time in my programming, I miss being able to see the correct name while I'm coding. I sure hope there is a fix soon!

Thanks again

Jim

Jim, I reproduced the situation you described and we would look into
correcting it. Also I like your ideas of displaying the alias as a column
and the ability to drag the field off the list. Something to be considered
for the future.

Greetings!

After having done a (really) quick check on the archives, I have not seen
this addressed.

What I had with V5.0 was to be able to view a list of fields in a table,
and then to see the alias in the properties of the field. I upgraded over
the weekend to V5.1, and am trying to do the same thing. I get to a file
that I need to see the field names for, tell the RSE that I want to view
the fields in a table. It gives me a nice display of fields which, by the
way, I would like to customize by adding the Alias as a column. When I
right click and ask for field properties, all I get is the field
name. None of the other information is filled in. No Alias, no length, no

text, and the type has the field name displayed in it.

Has this been reported? Is there a fix? Am I doing something wrong? How
can I get the properties to display the ALIAS? Even better, how can I drag

the field from the list to my program, and have it fill in the field name
(or alias) with appropriate substitutions, like the copy DDR or copy DDSR
would do?

Thanks
