Have you tried Window -> Preferences and then selecting Remote Systems. 
Then uncheck "Re-open Remote Systems view to previous state"?

I find that I prefer to close source files and open a perspective other 
than
RSE when I exit WDSC.  It opens  quicker the next time if it doesn't have 
to
log you on during startup.  Of course, I then have to log on after 
startup,
but I then can minimize the window and do something else if it has a hard
time resolving a member.
