The free-form restriction was made because there are a number of technical issues that need consideration beyond that scope and there was not enough time to deal with them appropriately in the release. The code that you put in your template doesn't effect how it is processed at the code-assist level. I suspect that the editor going wacky has something to do with the parser or syntax checker having problems with the inserted code. It must be set to off by default because that is how I found it and I didn't know it existed before you mentioned it. FYI - This is the thread that locks up my keyboard only while in the LPEX editor. All other applications work just fine.
