Mark, Thanks for the tip about WordPad. That does format correctly. I am using LPEX. I went back to Code and when I open the IFS file from CODE, I get line numbers. When opened from WDSc RSE I do not get them. In this case, I do not see line numbers in WordPad either. I do not think they are in the file but rather an artifact of CODE. Weird that the new software doesn't generate line numbers. Probably a setting I haven't figured out yet. Is that the case? 2) You should be able to use WordPad instead of NotePad, or any other decent text editor for that matter. You might as well just get used to this as I experience the same problem in virtually all XML files or readme files I get these days. I just make habit of always using WordPad. There are a number of excellent free alternatives like TextPad. When I did so, I got line numbers in the code editor. Using RSE I do not get line numbers. I found a checkbox labeled HIDE Line Numbers and it was not checked. They appear hidden anyway. How do you get them back?. FYI, line numbers DO appear when editing traditional source files in QxxxSRC of the iSeries. 2) I also periodically would edit the same IFS files with either CODE or NOTEPAD, simply by right clicking on the object. Today, when I did that to a file recently editted by WDSc, I got a big surprise. The text was a jumble and appeared to have unprintable (squares) characters where the lF/CR would be. As such, it would appear that once you edit with LPEX, it is impossible to use any other tool on this file other than LPEX. I'm a little worried about that, since we all have not adopted it. Is there a setting that says "Preserve PC editor ability" which will cause WDSc not to "trash" the file from the perspective of these other tools? It is amazing what all is in this tool and otherwise, I am loving it.
