Not the best answer for you, but TurnOver will manage and automate all of
those things for you within WDSC.
The only place I recall that you set a *LIBL in WDSC is by right-clicking
on the "iSeries Commands" subsystem and choosing "Properties". This
allows you to set the initial library list when RSE makes a connection.
After that, all management of the *LIBL is up to you by running commands
or calling programs.
You can define commands like ADDLIBLE or CHGLIBL that are just saved and
appear under the iSeries Commands subsystem. You could also probably
write a small CL program that sets the library list and define it as a
call.
As for iSeries Projects, you associate them with a library, but not
specifically a *LIBL. Might be a good enhancement to make that a
property. When doing a build, I would assume it would use the *LIBL that
you set in your RSE connection. If you are using the CL Command Build
Style, then you could also probably modify the generated CL source to
manipulate the library list prior to performing the compiles.
Those are just some ideas I can think of, I use TurnOver so I do not have
to do any of that.

Phil,
Going through my past emails to find help, I tried to find the
presentation
you mentioned below. I found the web site, and the "Training and
Certification" link, but then I got stuck. I looked for "Self Study" and
did not see it. I clicked on the "Self Help" link but did not find the
"Eclipse Tooling for RPG and COBOL Tools" presentation.
Am I blind? Has it moved or been removed since then? Looking for how to
make myself productive in this new environment. Just doing iSeries COBOL,
DDS, SQL, & CL Development.
Frustrated RANT..
All of what I do ends up as green screen applications (so far). Right now
I'm trying to understand where the library list is kept, and the best way
to compile source (DDS at the moment) from a project I have downloaded to
my laptop. I have not had time to research all the emails I have on my
machine from this list, nor have I been able to search the
archives. Things are too hectic, and I don't have the spare time. The
compile fails because the library I am working in does not appear in the
library list for the project I have created. When I add it, it does not
change the list (which I do understand - the server or daemon sets the
library list on startup), but I can't seem to get the library list to
stick. How do I change the library list the daemon uses when compiling? I
know this has been asked before, and answered. It sure would be nice to
be
able to adjust the list on the fly, like you can with code and a STRCODE
server. I also realize that the STRCODE server is an interactive server
which makes it easier to change the library list.
The frustration level is high because the work load is more than enough
for
3 people, the tool is not intuitive (for me), and if I don't force myself
to use the new tool, I won't EVER get to use the new tools. The tool is
not (for me) intuitive enough to just use, and I don't have time to spend
researching. I need a straight forward, easy to understand, well written,
step by step tutorial that will lead me by the hand for the things I need
to do. Write, verify, compile, deploy (promote to production) files
(physical, logical, display, printer), programs (COBOL, CLLE, ?RPG?), data
areas, data queues, and other objects. I could really use the option of
putting the source on my PC (which I have figured out in the projects) and
push the source to the iSeries (which I can do), but then compile becomes
an issue.
