We have developed a plug-in for WDSC 5 that extends the Remote Systems
Explorer to add a "spooled file subsystem". Basically, it adds another
branch to the tree that lets you define filters for accessing spooled
files. There is also a context-sensitive option added to the iSeries Jobs
filters to see the spooled files for that job.

This plug-in is available for free using a modified BSD license.
Basically, I removed the parts that mention source code since the source
is not being made available. But you are otherwise free to use and
distribute this plug-in however you like.

You can get the plug-in from this URL:

This plug-in was designed to help developers using WDSC do their jobs a
little easier. Basically it removes one more reason to go to the green
screen. There are options for manipulating your spooled files as well as
some support for viewing them. You can open a spooled file in the Eclipse
text editor, which allows you to search it and even print it or email it.
This works really well for joblogs and compile listings, but obviously is
not meant to support AFP spooled files or other files where formatting is
important. There is an option to create a TIFF file if you absolutely
need to see the spooled file with all of its page breaks and formatting,
but be warned these files are huge, about 1 MB per page.

If anyone out there would like to build an extension to this plug-in to
produce a PDF version of a spooled file, contact me off-line and I can get
you started on what you need to do.

Enjoy!
