Phil,

Did you by some changes try to connect to the iSeries from the RSE before
connected with VPN? The Java Development Kit (JDK) used to run the WDSc
workbench caches DNS lookups. Unfortunately it also caches DNS lookups
that fail. So if you tried to connect to the iSeries before you connected
via VPN the lookup would fail and continue to fail until you restart the
workbench : (

After connecting with VPN (and restarting the workbench) everything should
be okay.

Hope this helps.

I just installed WDSc - and so far I like it alot. I could see this
replacing Ops Nav!

One site that I connect to I have to use VPN. I can enter the domain name
and check ptf's and other CODE/400 actions, but when I am in RSE and click
to expand iSeries Jobs (for example) I get a message that the host name
can't be found. I changed it to an ip address and it now works.

For sites that I connect to without a VPN, I have no problems using a
hostname.

Is this a known problem? If not I want to make it known!

Phil
