I’m having a problem verifying several members even though I’m refreshing
the cache. Almost all programs verify without any problem. The verify
listing picks up the display file format names but none of the fields are
included (the display file is normal). The programs in question verify on
V5R1 WDT/400 (another machine) and compile on the V5R1 iSeries. I’ve
cleared the CACHE directory and rebooted; no joy. I’ve created a new
program with the display file statement as the only statement and verify on
the “program” blows up with the “communications failure” throwaway message.
Then I verifies without using the cache; it worked. Then I verified again
with cache and it worked. Now for the money shot: I try the original
program again, and it still can’t handle the display file.
I’m open to suggestions…the “other machine” is my laptop and it doesn’t have
a 21” monitor so I’m not using it…

After the usual e-mail profile issues in posting this message, I’ve
determined MAXDEV(*FILE) is the culprit. Comment it out and it works fine…
Environment: WDSc V5R1, current SP; Win 2K, current SP.
