[WDSCI-L] Some responses

Regarding the very interesting series of notes transpiring here:
#1. For system requirements, I use a 700mhz pc with 512mb of memory, and
       other than startup (which I only have to deal with once a day, and
which
       gets a bit better next release) I find performance quite snappy. I
admit
       this is no small machine, but it is a long way from what Bob Cozzi
is
       suggesting. Memory is the most important thing, but it is the Web
unit test
       environment that uses most of this. Perhaps it is a little easier to
ask IT
       for more memory than it is to ask for a new PC?
#2.  Who is WDSC targeted at? Yes, of course anyone doing any of Java,
      Web, WebServices or XML development. But it is also for traditional
iSeries
       development... and this is because of our integration of RSE with
the
       classic CODE tools. The idea is RSE is the front door to these tools
for
       now, while over time their functionality will be absorbed into the
RSE
       itself. And let's not forget WebFacing!
 #3. Is WDSC a "collection of parts being sold as an IDE" as Buck suggests?
       We sure do not think so! The Java and Web and WebServices and XML
        and WebFacing tools are top notch tools that we have recented a lot
of
        great feedback on. Many developers are using these very
successfully.
        I'd like to know why you find them wanting. For RPG and COBOL, with
the
        integration of the classic tools, we think we have offered
something
        worthwhile, out of the gate.
