This is a multipart message in MIME format. -- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] If your "corporate standard" doesn't recognize that developers need more powerful machines and need to be upgraded more frequently than those of normal "users" then your corporate standards should be changed. On the other hand, if all you need is SEU to do your development than you shouldn't be using WDSc anyway. That was the point I was trying to make to Paul. If you have a need to be doing JSP or other web development than you need something like WDSc and the cost of upgrading your hardware is minimal compared to the cost of the programmer. There is no reason that any programmer today should not have a 700+ Mhz PC with 512 MB of RAM which is plenty to run WDSc. If you need to run the built in WebSphere server a lot, then I would bump that up to 1 GB of RAM." >From the point of view of the accountants and the managers who have to lay out the money to provide that kind of system for 10 developers, it appears more than just the cost of one PC. If they didn't budget for that a year ago when they planned what we would need it gets expensive. If the machine we have is less than 3 years old they say "your already at the corporate standard - you dont need more" And then - well - some of us will just not get to use these newer tools even if we want to. SEU will continue to work and there is no "apparent" cost outlay. (btw Ive got a 500mhz PC with 256K and that is because i was just upgraded) Andy BGT - Menasha (920) 751-4434 _______________________________________________ This is the Websphere Development Studio Client for iSeries (WDSCI-L) mailing list To post a message email: WDSCI-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/wdsci-l or email: WDSCI-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/wdsci-l.
