We have done two different approaches. We have only done Web and in C# but
from what I have seen so far in VS, most of the approaches are similar.

When we first started, we used the DataSet (xsd). After hitting minor
roadblocks here and there (mostly flexibility), we moved to writing our own
custom classes using IBM's .NET classes.
