I just figured that out right before you sent your reply. It's funny how
you can look at something for days on end and miss something so small such
as the fact that the program doesn't have single quotes around it. I have
never encountered that before in all these years! Thank you so much for
your help.

TPRD07 is not an object. It is a field in the database file PCP07.
You will notice that the call to TPRD07 was not shown as Call 'TPRD07'
which would be an pgm object.
The call is to a variable field whose value is retrieved by a previous
chain operation to PCP07 with the transaction type. Run a query over
PCP07 and look at the data. I think it will make sense to you.

Bob/Lin,
I understand your explanations and this is great...I can see how IN070
would be called. But, my confusion is this:
I saw the call to TPRD07 from the beginning of my research but when I
execute wrkobj for tprd07 in all libraries and all object types none are

found. What is a variable program and what kind of object is it?

Probably depends on your version, but for me the MJ_CONTROL job is
running MJ100 and waiting for a data queue entry to arrive. From there,
it calls one of a few programs all in the MJ10x series.
If you check the source on those programs they call a variable program
TPRD07.
If you look at the database file PCP07, you will see that the
transaction type program (TPRD07) that will be called is dependent on
the transaction type. These are all in the MJ4xx series and if you
check the source on those, you will see that IN070 is referenced in most
that require inventory movements. The control flags in PCP07 for each of
the transaction types will tell IN070 how to process the inventory
transaction.

Hope that helps explain it a bit.

Bob Otto

Make sure you scan the MJ source in other OSL libraries, eg OSLPDS3.

I know that but I can't just assume that IN070 is called from the
MJ_CONTROL job. I don't see the call to IN070 in my source. Do you
know
for sure that IN070 is called from within the MJ_CONTROL job?

IN070 is the program that updates INP95 and INP96.

Does anyone know how the mj_control job updates inventory movements in
inp95/inp96? I have reviewed the source code associated with this job
stream and I can't find a call to any program that updates the inventory

movements. If it calls a program to update inventory movements, I can't

find it in my source files for MJ100, MJ101, MJ102, MJ103, MJ104, MJ105
or

MJ106 but the files are clearly open for output in the mj_control job...
