Ah the great negative stock controversy!
On the one hand:
A purchased part is needed to keep a line running ("Do you want me to send
all these people home!?!?"). It is physically rushed to the shop, and
we'll do the computer transaction "later". Whilst "later" is waiting for
Godot, somebody wants to book production. Well, let them run stock
negative, If they made the end item, the purchased part had to be here! So
they drive stock negative, and the end item is ready for sale, etc. If
production reconciles these in a timely manner, this can work
On the other hand:
Many companies do not reconcile negative stock in a timely manner. Now
you look at a negative quantity and wonder, "Is this a real problem, or am
I just waiting for delayed reporting?" You just don't know without
further investigation. And by the way MPS/MRP is convinced it is a
problem, and treats on hand not as -???? but as zero.
IMHO if a company is disciplined enough to reconcile negative quantities
in a timely manner, they are disciplined enough to find a way to avoid
driving stock negative in the first place.
Just say no!

When users use this option, it doesn't warn them of components that will
have negative stock as a result of their transaction. Why does this
program allow negative stocks in the first place? Or are we missing a
step somewhere.
