Chris,

The command you are looking for is below.

CRTDTAARA DTAARA(QTEMP/IPGENV) TYPE(*CHAR) LEN(3) VALUE('TST')

You then call XAINITIAL and it puts you into an environment called
'TST'.

My CL program also adds the two IPG libraries below prior to the
CRTDTAARA command.

ADDLIBLE LIB(IPGCFP4)
ADDLIBLE LIB(IPGAMP4)

Subject: [SYSTEM21] Alternative environments

Thanks for the earlier replies about interfaces. For now, we are going
to
create a new environment for the Finance applications to see how that
works.

I remember a long time ago in v1 (of what was then Business/400) I
managed
to create a CL program that started up S21 in the test environment (i.e.
bypassing the need to use AMT and then type in the environment code).

Now I want to do something similar, but either I've forgotten (quite
likely) or the people in Studley have changed the way it works.

I believe that I need a copy of the AMCUSCODE data area, but putting it
in
QTEMP doesn't work because the program manipulates the library list.

Has anyone found a way to do it? Or any practical workarounds?

Best Regards
Chris
