We use FTP for large repetitive data into other systems like SQL Server
(BCP), utility emailing (CSV) data for large complex System 21 user reports
or Client Access Data Transfer (into Excel or Text) for user ad hoc data.

ODBC, a necessary evil, is not recommended for large amounts of information.
FTP is the cheapest/fastest solution with the trade off being the FTP/BCP
utility setup and real-time delay. More costly options are third party
tools such as GEAC's Performance Analyzer "Route1" utility or a myriad of
others I'm sure others on this distribution list can mention.
