I assume you are only referring to open GL periods.  I have seen companies
perform it both ways, so to answer your question, there is no limit in your
case within year 2006.  

In reality, you will need to address the level of risk you are taking by
keeping your GL periods open vs. a Prior Period Posting.  Is there some kind
of an event that PPP cannot handle?

Is there any limit to the number of GL periods that can remain open at 
one time.
I am in a situation where our Y/E may need to be open until April or May.
This would have us have 5 or 6 prior GL periods open at one time.
Or would it be better to actually close the Y/E and use 'Prior Period' 
(9/GLP)
postings to make any changes.
