As with Dave, we as well run a 7/24. And because of our system processes
and tight shipping schedule we have a minimum daily down time of 8
minutes. This intern leaves very little time for doing daily or weekly
reorgs, we just don't have the time. Sad to say, but that is what holiday
weekends are for. Because of that I have changed every file that has
major deleted records to reuse. It just makes sense for us.

Re: [SYSTEM21] Reuse deleted records on ICF04PHY

Our Manufacturing and Distribution warehouses operate 7/24. We try to
avoid locking users out of the system as much as possible. The trade off
being files with a lot of deleted records. We've change many of the
application files to reuse deleted records without issue, but never
changed any of the IPG libraries.

Dave,

I think you have answered you own question. Why do you only reorg once per
year?

We do all our PF libs, including the IPG**F4 libs, weekly via CLP in MM
run
for Sunday night. Takes around 40 mins per week and cleans up, on average,
over 3 million deleted records per week. The bulk of these are from S21
work files, MRP and some largeish DRP runs as well as some bespoke addins
we utilise. I couldn't imagine maintaining these records for any longer
than a week.

Has any one changed the reuse deleted records attribute on ICF04PHY or any
other SM files? Over time this file gets huge because the storage of the
deleted records is never released until you do a file reorg, which is
about once a year for us.
