The "phantom" BACS user number issue has been resolved. There is an extra member in the BACSF1 file, called BACSF1. The phantom BACS user number displayed is a numeric representation of that member name. I sort of assumed that any code looking for a member name in the form Annnnnn, where nnnnnn is a six digit number, would either ignore anything not in that format, or give the user a warning. But then, once upon a time, I used to be a programmer.
