Just thought I'd add something to ponder. One my current customers had a concern that the GL files were huge and that the daily backup and reporting were taking longer than preferred. The solution was to break these huge files into a production version and a history version. A "Union All" logical(s) was then created in the history library with the same name and attributes as the production logical. The production menu was copied and only the library list was changed to add the history library to the top of the library list. No program changes were required. The end result was that daily processing speed improved as the production file(s) were much smaller yet by taking an option from the history menu all records were found. Regards, Robert A. Our system is very slow and we are thinking of upgrading our AS/400 although only 53% of DASD is being used. We have several years of info on it and Advanced Sales Order Amend is very slow.
