Hi Sanne, I was appointed to lead the project of establishing the RF scanning at my company. The project has been successfully implemented to book the operation progress. Now our operation progress is real time. To establish the scanning system, you need: 1. The Main hardware: - Hendheld scanner, try to take a look to Symbol or Intermec and choose the suitable one for you - The access point to connect the hend held with AS/400 (Symbol and Intermec also provide it) - Emulator software for AS/400 on Pocket PC. You need to be carefull in choosing the emulator software. I may not work properly if you choose the wrong one. 2. Develop you our new program and database. This program and database must allow you to create the barcode label following the booking rule, and able to intersept the updating to the PCP01, PCP47 for normal operation booking and also update to INP60 for the last operation booking. Now I'm in the stage of developing barcoding system for issuing and receiving the RM, so, for the momment I can not give any further info. about the barcoding for issuing the goods. Is there any company (preferable a food company) out there who has implemented RF transaction processing within the stockrooms and uses it to issue materials to and book production into work orders. Our work orders may be linked to sales orders and lot control is an absolute necessity. We run quite a number of work orders on the same workstation in any one day. We are currently running a combination of stockrooms and warehouses within System21.
