S21 Display Files

We have source for the System 21 display files, but not for the RPG programs.  
Does that mean that it is OK to amend them for our own purposes?  Or are there 
for some other reason, or has Geac installed them by mistake?
 
I am thinking of hiding fields we don't need on some screens.  Has anyone done 
this, and did it help?  Is it a good idea?
