We modified our system to retain INP71 records on direct ship orders and
haven't experienced any problems.

This is also a common requirement if you do 'make-to-order' so you can
trace back in a similar way to the Works Order from the Sales Order (or
vice versa).

I am more familiar with Style, and here there is an "issue" with the
database design that means you definitely would *not* want to modify the
system so that INP71 records were retained after the goods were
received. I don't know Generic/Core S21 well enough to say whether it
would cause problems, but I'd be careful. Assuming that Ram's
modification is to create an INP71H record and not touch the INP71
processing that sounds OK, but then you also need the mods to the
inquiries to display the history.
