        Thanks for your reply..   and I agree with you 100% about the
actions of the keyboard needing reset to acknowledge the status line.
However, we use another product which will allow auto reset of the
keyboard... and its one of those things that the users have grown accustom
to...  I was just wondering if anyone knew how to get Hostexplorer to react
the same way..

        Rob,

                Unless I'm way off base what you are describing is the
standard state for a program that has detected errors in the input data on
an iseries using System 21 (And many other applications). This situation
would occur if you were using Client Access/System 21 Explorer/Hummingbird
Host Explorer or any other terminal emulation software connected to an
iseries/(AS400). The reason for the keyboard lock is to force the user to
acknowledge they have seen the error(s) detected by the application program.
I would guess you are using the hummingbird product because you are
communication with multiple platforms such as UNIX and have run into a
difference in the way errors are handled/displayed by the OS.

product called
Hostexplorer by Hummingbird.  It seems to work fine in the AS400 environment
but once inside of System21 the reset key must be enter upon anytime there
is any type of message display on line 24.  Such as; using menu 8/OEE
"Invoices by Invoice number" if an invalid invoice is entered a message of
"Invoice number not found" appears on line 24.  From that point on the
keyboard is locked using the hostexplorer product.  Once the reset key is
enter the keyboard is unlock and the function key(s) can be enter and the
transaction can continue.  We also use of the emulation products in which
these type of errors do not occur.  If anyone could help it would be great.
