Just to add another twist to this subject, SEQUEL from ASC provides a useful for reporting, data base administration and provides syntax for CL development. Yes the green screen is not real pretty but ASC does provide a GUI front end version (I have not yet worked with this version). This product is capable of outputting multiple file formats including Excel and directly to email addresses. All these functions can be automated in CL and scheduled in MM or equivalent job scheduler. We bought Objects in 1997 and used it for a few years, but strictly use MS Access now. >From a developer's perspective, I find Access easy to use and we get pretty decent performance. Access is widely used and you can go to any bookstore and find looks of educational materials. Other than the pre-built data dictionary that is available for Objects, anyone have reasons why they use it instead of Access (or anything else)?
