The best I've found is to export as a .csv file and then open in Excel. Depending on what you want to do with the file, you may or may not want headers, footers etc. If you want the recipient to be able to manipulate the date, such as sort, totals etc, it's cleaner if you keep the report simple with few (if any) headers and footers. There is less re-formatting in .csv or .xls. I use this frequently.
