[SYS21] Re: Conversational order entry with Warehousing

The 'no location' is lovely failure in System 21 where the stock is not 
available whilst in the receiving area but it is available in inventory 
which is used for allocations.

We use advanced order entry which tries to allocate immed. plus batch 
allocation runs every hour to pick up new receipts that will satisfy back 
orders.

To overcome the problem we have a bespoke mod in place that freezes the 
quantity received (purchase, manuf etc) in inventory while it is in the 
receiving area. On putaway the stock is automatically unfrozen making it 
available to sales order allocation. This is especially applicable to our 
situation as our manufacturing plant is some 5-6 mile away from the 
warehouse so in the 'receipt area' can actually mean just come off the 
line in manufacturing, in transit to the warehouse or actually in the 
warehouse receiving area.

We have had this mod in since last October and so far it has proved 
successful.
