You may also want to try first deleting the records from the file and insert
the latest records (rather than an import) as a "SP". This bypasses the DTS
and maintains the integrity of the initial database.

Jon,

This may well be due to the account used by the SQL Service Agent.

Check the Microsoft website for article "How to Run a DTS Package as a
Scheduled Job (Q269074)"

If the security is fine, then check you have the latest service pack for
your version of client access.

I have had this problem before, and had to resort to scheduling the job
outside of SQL. You can submit the DTSRun command in a batch file or direct
from a command line. If you are still having problems then you may want to
set up an AS/400 user with the same name as the NT Account specified in the
SQL Service agent, as this is the profile it submits the job under (although
it should use the username and password in the Client Access Data Source in
the DTS Package.)......Let me know how you get on.

Hope that helps.

Thanks,

Using SQL Server 2000 Data Transformation Services (DTS) to extract data
from System21 into a SQL Server database, through the Client Access ODBC
driver.

The DTS Packages will successfully connect to the AS/400 and extract data.
However, if the package is scheduled through the SQL Server Agent, it
fails immediately after connecting to the AS/400.

Has anyone had any similar problems with this type of setup?

TIA
