You may want to consider an alternative to the standard purge routines. I
am the author of ARCTOOLS, a purge/archive utility. It's a rules based
purge utility that uses a proprietary RPG code generator (not SQL) to do
purges safely. Please see http://www.arctools.com .

Whatever method you use , it is possible to include the archived records
along with live records by manipulating some of the logical files. There
are a couple ways to do this. Please let me know if you would like more
info on this approach.

Can anyone tell me what is archived and what is purged in the IM, AP, AR,
GL modules? How difficult is it to perform archives and purges? What
ramifications can you see for us when we do this? Can any of this
information be viewed in the screens in the Historical Data options? I
have printed some of the archive and purge material from the books
provided by JBA, but I want input from someone who has done this. Thanks,
Margaret
