We are looking at an external package generating some orders while we
continue to generate other orders on the system. All orders will eventually
be confirmed on SOP and it will help our quality assurance system if the
number that appears on the externally generated order documentation also
appears on the SOP invoice. So I was wanting a standard sequence of order
numbers for SOP generated orders and a prefixed (if possible?) sequence of
order numbers for the externally generated orders.

Despatch docs & invoices can have different sequences
by stockroom/site(via 2/INU & 3/INU), orders cannot.
Remember that an order can potentially have lines on
different stockrooms. How would you want your 2
sequences to work?
