In response to the questions raised in recent emails about the value that
Geac customers receive for their maintenance, we are posting excerpts from a
letter from Peter Quinn, General Manager for System21 Americas. Although
this letter is currently being sent to customers whose maintenance is due to
expire, we wanted to post it here for the benefit of all Americas-based
System21 customers.

Any questions or comments can be directed to your Account Manager. If you
are unsure who your Account Manager is contact Maria Hogan at (609) 231-9400
ext. 3001.

"During the last year, Geac Enterprise Solutions* has invested more that
$15M in adding new functionality to the core System21 products, a software
suite that was already a world class ERP solution. At the same time we have
dedicated over 19% of our employee base to the continuing R&D effort. In
the process we have made significant improvements to the quality of the
underlying code, and have developed a number of strategically important new
applications, which are designed to extend the capability of the
applications into the eBusiness arena. In addition, an Americas-based
maintenance team has been strengthened in order to deliver timely local
fixes and enhancements. You have also begun to reap the benefits of using
AnswerLink - our state-of-the-art, Web-based support system that was
implemented last year and many of you have raved about the value you
received from attending the ALLIANCE User Conference."

Following is a summary of Geac's investment in System21:

Functional Enhancements
Significant new functionality was recently delivered in SP3
and SP4, particularly within the manufacturing application suite, and with
the release of SP5, projected for next year, further new functionality will
again be introduced.

New Application Development
In response to the need to support an e-business, Geac* has
re-architected System21 to give you the capability to integrate your
underlying transaction processing "backbone" into your supply chain.
                                commerce.connect - a series of Geac System21
products designed to provide improved communication and process connection
between your System21 business applications and those of your customers and
suppliers
                                commerce.platform - a set of software
services which provide the supporting infrastructure, logic processing,
modeling/workflow, and security necessary to support the commerce.connect
applications.

Product Quality
In addition to functional enhancements, Geac has also
undertaken a major effort to improve the rate of defect resolution within
the System21 applications and increase the level of quality in the delivered
code. The results of this effort have become progressively more evident with
each successive software release, and outstanding software defect logs have
been significantly reduced accordingly.

                Focus on Localization
The dedicated US maintenance and localization team has
greatly supplemented this effort through timely provision of critical US
required fixes and through quality development of additional US
functionality.

                Support received high marks
A year after implementing AnswerLink and several support
procedures to improve quality and satisfaction, you have rewarded Support
Services with higher ratings in this year's Customer Satisfaction Survey.
Most frequently cited are improvements in response time and resolution of
cases, the increased professionalism and knowledge of staff, and the
capabilities of the tools including the ability to search the Solutions
knowledge base, monitor Bulletin Boards, receive pro-active communications,
and to retrieve the latest documentation on-line.
