Art,

You will find an exact copy of these files in EVERY JBA library...!!!
This is how you keep track of what PTFs have been applied to your system...
There is really no clean way to know precisely what version/service
pack/fix pack/ mod level you system is running at without the data stored
in these files...
The opening menu does not show the current version/ptf level... (Wouldn't
that be cool...?)

So the bottom line is, the files have to stay on there if you ever intend
to apply another PTF to your software...
The PTF application will fail and fall over in a heap if these files are
not found next time you attempt to apply a PTF...

The contents of the file (In My Humble Opinion) is entirely up to you...
If you want to clear the files you can, your GEAC support team may ask you
someday, hey have you applied this PTF...???
And you will have to say, Hmmm... Not really sure???

I don't know if this violates your support agreement or not, perhaps you
should check with Geac...

Hope that helps...

I just discovered two files in our database. PTFLOG with 3500 records, and
PTFLOGTX with 1750 members, each with 17 records. They seem to be a record
of PTF's installed between 1994 and 1996 and were copied in to our database
in 1999 when it was created.

Do we need these? If we do not need the records, do we need the files?

Thanks for any info you can give me.
