GEAC/JBA have announced further cut back in support staff and it also looks like they are looking to sell their JBA business. We have found a long term alternative and have signed an "International Support Contract" with a company called iOM who have offices in the US, the UK and most Asian locations. iOM's ISC services are provided over the internet and can cover 24x7 support where required. We have conducted a due diligence and can confirm that they have in excess of 280 JBA experienced support staff and a pretty impressive AS/400 and communications infrastructure. Our rational for taking this route are: a) Although iOM cannot provide JBA issued PTF's we have found that PTF's generally cause more problems than fixes and in our modified systems cannot be applied without extensive testing. b) iOM do not and cannot supply version upgrades. Our reading of the situation re JBA is that 1) there are likely to be less and less version upgrades, as they cut back on costs, and 2) we have taken the decision to stabilize our current version and build on that with Internet enabled front ends etc. which iOM are doing very effectively. There is only so much that an ERP system can be tweaked to give more effective control and Management information, where the benefits can be derived is building E enabled systems around the base ERP. If you are interested in looking at this alternative look them up on www.iomworld.com We are glad we are out of the JBA/GEAC announcements and confusion. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
