I'm assuming you want to remove all trace of the deleted companies from all files in all libraries... Note: you should not remove the Z1 company because some applications do not allow you to create new companies only copy from existing and Z1 comes shipped with the package and makes a fine test company... And there are several files where you will find records with blanks in the CONO field... You should never delete these either... If these records are not there several of the programs will fail to run correctly... We have some rather sophisticated CL programs that use some static file/field definitions that we stored in physical files in conjunction with SQL commands that allow us to copy and or purge entire companies from every file in every library in the JBA package... We can specify the target libraries and even the target company number, so we can cross environments or worlds as needed... Once you delete the records then you need to reorg those files libraries in order to recover any disk space... Don't neglect all of the IPG files libraries either... There can be considerable record counts in the authority files that are company specific... Good luck... And be careful... You should always have a fresh and complete backup of everything prior to running any kind of purge routine... :-) You kids don't try this at home... ;-) "Margaret Slayton" <mslayton@ambrake.com> on 09/01/2000 12:07:50 PM Please respond to JBAUSERS-L@midrange.com To: JBAUSERS-L@midrange.com cc: (bcc: Jeff Klipa/Harvard) Subject Deleteing companies : We have numerous companies set up in our test environment. Has anyone ever deleted any companies? If you have, can you give me some pointers on how to do this.
